Praising God for the 2017-2018 Ministry Year

Dear friends,

At today’s annual business meeting, we voted on new deacons, heard an update about the addition to our facilities, and reflected on the ministry year that just passed.

But my favorite part of this meeting was when we shared some encouraging figures from the 2017-2018 ministry year.

  • 9 new members.
  • The best budget in more than 15 years.
  • New, thriving ministries to children and families — ministries that last year were only scribbled ideas on a piece of paper.
  • Most importantly of all, we saw people come to faith in Jesus Christ. We dusted off the baptismal for the first times in more than 12 years.

And we witnessed other blessings that are harder to quantify. For example, I’ve heard from many individuals in our congregation about how God has been at work in their lives in tangible, life-changing ways. I’ve seen God growing, maturing, and sanctifying our people, and it brings tears of joy to my eyes.

In other words, this year has been one for the record books. God has been at work.

Would you join us in praising God for what he has done in and through Cedar Rock this year? We can’t explain these things except to say that God has been powerfully at work in and through us.

My prayer is that 2017-2018 wouldn’t be a blip on the radar but the start of a new normal. We at Cedar Rock are not content with the status quo; we are a people on mission, a people called to worship God, love each other, and reach our neighbors with the good news of Jesus Christ.

So, yes, this past year has been one for the record books. Let’s rejoice and praise God! But we pray that it is only the beginning of what God does through us for our community.

In Christ,
Pastor Nathaniel
